How We Help

Answers to the questions Deaf clients ask us first.

How will we communicate throughout my case?

Directly, in ASL with your attorney when it matters, plus captions and written summaries for documents and key steps. You choose the method at each stage, and we adjust as the case moves.

What if the police report misunderstood what I said?

We review the report against what you actually communicated, gather witness accounts and any available recordings, and work to correct the record before it shapes your case.

What if I couldn't communicate effectively during medical treatment?

We document the communication barriers in your care and how they affected your injuries and recovery. That can matter to both your injury claim and your rights.

How will I participate in a deposition or mediation?

We arrange a qualified interpreter, prepare you in ASL beforehand, and make sure you understand every question and that every answer is yours.

The Advocates

The people who will stand with you.

Daniel L. Nelson
Founding Partner

Daniel L. Nelson

Admitted to the California State Bar in 1990, Daniel L. Nelson built his career defending as many as 25 major insurance companies before turning to advocate for the injured. That inside knowledge of how insurers value — and undervalue — a claim now drives every case the firm takes. He has served as a Commissioner for the State Bar of California and is a longtime member of the California Trial Lawyers Association and the Los Angeles Trial Lawyers Association.

Daryl G. Crouse
Partner

Daryl G. Crouse

Daryl Glenn Crouse co-leads the firm's trial practice alongside Daniel L. Nelson, overseeing and managing every case directly and shaping strategy for each client's maximum recovery. He handles the full arc of a matter — from pre-litigation investigation through trial — and is admitted to the California State Bar (2014) and the District of Columbia Bar (2021). Before law, Mr. Crouse spent more than 25 years as a small-business entrepreneur; in 2004 he advocated for regulatory modernization of FCC rules governing telecommunications relay services. He is fluent in American Sign Language, which allows the firm to serve Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing clients directly — a population too often turned away elsewhere.
